This portion of the self-evaluation is designed to test your knowledge of minutiae features, specifically ridge endings, bifurcations and those of unknown type.
Remember: The markup locations for bifurcations and ridge endings are equivalent. The location always goes in the center of a point where a ridge or valley splits to form a "Y" shape. The minutia direction, or theta angle, will then point along the gap between the two ridge or valley branches of the "Y."
To mark a ridge ending:
Select the "Ridge Endings" radio button on the tool bar. Click on the center of the "Y" of a ridge ending, then drag to indicate its direction. The ridge ending will be marked with a red circle and line.
To mark a bifurcation:
Select the "Bifurcation" radio button on the tool bar. Click on the center of the "Y" of a bifurcation, then drag to indicate its direction. The bifurcation will be marked with a square outlined in red and line.
To mark an unknown:
Select the "Unknown" radio button on the tool bar. Click on the center of the "Y" of the minutia, then drag to indicate its direction. The minutiae will be marked with a red-filled square and line.
To remove a minutia mark:
Select the Delete tool and then click on that mark.
Note: This tool does not allow you to mark radius of uncertainty for a minutia, but an EFS-compliant workstation will.
